Sarah Westgate

Artist, Mother, Human.

In all of her work, Sarah Westgate actualizes a kaleidoscope of spiritual, physical, and metaphysical realms, in which she portrays each of the perspectives of her existence; the artist, the mother, and the human. She uses art as a portal into her mental landscape, taking standard and symbolic images and altering them with delicate yet deliberate strokes, to transform and enhance a glimpse of time. The result is bewitching clairvoyance, epochal emotion and formidable intellect, woven into a spectacle of imaginative child play based around her life's themes.
Dappling in surrealism, she can transport you into the occult mind of the artist's playful, often painful, mind. Through creative colour use and fluid lines, she embodies the wisdom of age while retaining the wild impulsive freedom of youth, that which is the inherent essence of the sacred bond and bliss of bearing and rearing a child. Pieces depicting bodies or bones can be delightfully or dangerously provocative, emphasizing the innate mortality of us all, and meditating on the triumphs and tragedies of human life.
Taking her inspiration from human and Mother Nature, Sarah Westgate unleashes her passion for life and art through paint, and is sure to engross and enchant while defying some of the preconceived notions of art. Through her pieces, she is able to delve into your heart and soul, rousing intimate introspective exploration in any Earthling, whether you are an artist, a mother, or merely human.
